REGIONAL MARKET COMMENTARY, Q4 2022

REGIONAL INFORMATION

At the end of Q4, we are continuing to see a candidate-driven market across all regions including the North West and Scotland.

We continue to see the demand for the hybrid working model along with full remote work. The cost of living crisis in the UK has meant that candidates are seeking higher salaries. However, salaries offered remain stagnant and do not always reflect the needs of candidates.

Entering Q1 of 2023, we have availability to take on new opportunities that match the increased demand for new positions.

We are still seeing candidates complete the process in record time.

Finance

One of the most in-demand spaces for top talent within finance is Audit. There is an increase in opportunities in this space throughout the regions. Again, there is a surplus of strong and experienced candidates requiring visa sponsorship, however, clients are rarely offering this. Potentially limiting their talent pool. Candidates with liquidity and/or regulatory experience continue to be in short supply.

Our most recent placements have included: Head of M&A, Audit Manager (Internal), Regulatory and Liquidity reporting specialist, SOX and Controls Manager, Financial Controller, Financial Accountant, Corporate Tax Specialist, and Credit Controller.

Risk & Compliance

Model validation roles continue to be key hires throughout the region. There is a consistent demand for individuals at entry level through to Manager.  Governance candidates are also highly sought after due to Global economic conditions.

Recent placements have included: IRB Manager, Model Validation Manager, Graduate Credit Risk Specialist and Graduate Model Validation Analyst.

Operations

The Operations market has experienced an influx of new roles which corresponds with the strong candidate talent pool available. As we enter Q1 of 2023, we expect this trend to continue across all regions.

Recent placements have included: Corporate Actions Analyst, Settlements Manager,  Financial Administrator and Client Processing specialist.

Hiring in this space varies from entry-level to senior level, throughout the North West and Scotland.

Projects & Change

The candidate demand for contract work within the North West remains consistent. However, this does not necessarily match the number of roles available.

Permanent hires are being favoured by organisations and we have seen this trend continue throughout 2022.
