Head of Operations and Claims – Renewable Energy Insurance
I’m currently working with a leading insurer that is rapidly expanding its presence in the renewable energy insurance market. We're seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Operations and Claims to lead the operations, claims management, and overall strategy of our growing renewable energy portfolio.

The Role
As the Head of Operations and Claims, you will oversee the full spectrum of operations and claims management within the renewable energy insurance portfolio. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that enhance operational efficiency, ensure effective claims resolution, and maintain a profitable portfolio. This role will require you to collaborate with underwriting, risk engineering, actuarial teams, and leadership, while also ensuring smooth execution of claims processes across key renewable energy technologies, including:
- Utility-scale solar (PV and CSP)
- Onshore and offshore wind
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Emerging and hybrid clean energy technologies
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operations and claims teams, ensuring efficient processing of claims and operations.
- Oversee and improve operational workflows, ensuring alignment with profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction targets.
- Develop and implement claims management strategies, ensuring timely and accurate claims resolution.
- Collaborate with underwriting, risk engineering, and actuarial teams to ensure effective risk management and claims mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement across claims processes, utilizing data, technology, and industry best practices.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including brokers, clients, and regulators, to ensure smooth communication and satisfaction.
- Stay on top of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to keep the company ahead of the curve in claims management.
- Develop and implement performance metrics and KPIs to track team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Act as a thought leader within the company on claims management and operations strategy for the renewable energy portfolio.
What I'm Looking For
- 7–10+ years of experience in operations and claims management, preferably within the renewable energy or power & infrastructure sectors.
- Proven leadership ability, with a track record of managing cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
- Strong knowledge of claims handling and operational processes, with an ability to manage complex claims in the renewable energy sector.
- A deep understanding of the renewable energy insurance space, including risk mitigation strategies for technologies like solar, wind, and battery storage.
- Strong commercial acumen, problem-solving skills, and a data-driven approach to process improvement.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across teams, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency.
- Experience in international markets and exposure to the regulatory landscape governing renewable energy insurance.
