As we end Q3 of 2021, we have seen a massive shift in the market and a massive shortage of quality candidate availability across all sectors, making this very much a candidate led market.
Finance candidates are in high demand throughout the regions, specifically at Fully or Newly Qualified level.
Employers promoting flexible working and investing in employee development, are definitely winning the war for talent.
Due to the flexible working now being offered across the United Kingdom, salaries have become more fluid and the North/South divide has become more of a blurred line, meaning that North West candidates are now able to procure much higher salaries than we have previously seen.
Top tip… Promote your culture, internal mobility and flexible working policies to obtain top talent!
Our most recent hiring demands have included: Senior Financial Reporting Managers, Financial Accountants, Commercial Finance Analysts, Tax Managers and Fund Reporting Managers.
Pensions and Investments
Pensions and Investment organisations are continuing to hire at an impressive rate at all levels and are finding that candidates have up to 4 offers on the table at any one time. We are trying to combat this by headhunting for specific clients, however, the competition for top talent, has never been more active.
Clients are becoming more location agnostic to open the candidate pool even further for their varied roles.
Top tip… Are you finding it hard to search for your urgent role? Ask for a retained search to prioritise your hire.
Key hires within this space have included Part and Fully Qualified Actuaries, Pensions Administrators, Pensions Technicians, GMP Equalisation specialists, Pension Analysts, Investment Consultants and Pensions Client Managers.
Risk and Compliance
What can we say except candidates with Model development, Model Validation and IFRS9 exposure are in massively high demand with candidates being offered up to 30% increases on their current salaries in the marketplace.
Credit Risk continues to be a popular area of hiring throughout the North West, with remote working opportunities seeing the most applications.
Top tip… Review salaries of your current employees in this area, as you will find that they are being approached on a regular basis. What else are you doing to retain your talent?
The regional team are busier than ever and are currently hiring! Do you know anyone that might be looking for a move? Please get in touch!
Other news on the team front, Oliver Gooch has joined the pensions and investments team, working with our very own Chris Neal.

We would like to thank each and every one of our clients and candidates for supporting Bruin as we come out of the other side of the pandemic, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
