I am working with a leading Financial Services firm in London, who are looking to hire an AVP in their Operational Tax team. This role will cover all of the operational taxes for the Investment and Custodian Bank across the UK and US, joining a large wider tax team.

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, document and manage all Operational Tax processes across UK CIB, including QI/QDD, FATCA, AEOI, FTT and SDRT, ensuring compliance and effective controls.
  • Lead the full QI/QDD lifecycle, including annual reporting, UK certification programmes, and coordination with global tax and operational teams.
  • Provide oversight, guidance and technical support to Operations, Network Management and global teams on withholding tax processes, client account structures, regulatory communications, and WHT reclaim activities.
  • Monitor global tax developments (“Tax Watch”) and translate regulatory changes into operational procedures, documentation requirements and stakeholder communications.
  • Maintain and enhance tax-related governance, including updating SOPs, engaging with internal working groups/committees, and overseeing MDR and UK BBSI reporting obligations.
  • Support and contribute to operational tax change initiatives and projects across CIB, collaborating with senior stakeholders to drive process optimisation and regulatory compliance.

Job Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of withholding tax regimes in major markets, and the relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation.
  • Strong experience of US Tax (QI/QDD)  and FATCA/AEOI reporting regimes.
  • A relevant professional qualification, combined with formal experience in operational taxes within Investment Banking/Custody.
  • Strong knowledge of Prime Brokerage business, including typical client structures.
  • Exposure to jurisdictional Financial Transaction Tax and UK SDRT regimes, and an understanding of the role of Central Depositories/Global Custodians/Agent Banks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
