Casualty Pricing Actuary – A fantastic opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Casualty pricing actuary to join a dynamic team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career in pricing.

Based within the Pricing Team, you will provide dedicated actuarial support for the Casualty Insurance division, including Casualty Direct, Professional Indemnity, and UK Casualty Binders classes of business. The role will also provide ad-hoc support to the broader objectives of our Pricing Function, including the in-flight pricing transformation project.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ongoing development, maintenance, and cyclical validation of rating tools and pricing capabilities for dedicated classes, including technical rating, base rates, relativity analysis, ILFs, rate monitoring, and model documentation. Developments will include those that the service underwriter needs as well as delivering cutting-edge pricing techniques.
  • Enhance class underwriting MI to support underwriting decisions, including binder monitoring tools to support underwriting decisions in this growing area of the business.
  • Contribute to innovation and efficiency across the pricing and underwriting functions, identifying and developing enhancements to achieve increased accuracy, efficiency, and profitability across the underwriting lifecycle.
  • Liaise with pricing teams across our group to promote consistency of pricing approach where appropriate. Regular engagement with the reserving, capital, and risk functions to ensure ongoing feedback of trends and emerging experiences are incorporated into pricing, capital, and reserving respectively.

The key skills required for the role are as follows:

  • Relevant London Market experience in Commercial Lines pricing, including experience in the pricing of long-tailed casualty classes.
  • Nearly/Newly qualified actuary or with relevant experience of actuarial techniques and portfolio management.
  • Ability to identify, propose solutions and implement to meet business challenges.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and decision-making skills required, with attention to detail.
  • Experience of @Risk, Tyche, SQL, Power BI, R, Python etc. beneficial.
