I am working with a well-regarded Commodities Trading House in London who are looking to hire their first in-house Tax professional. This is a unique opportunity to establish and shape the UK tax function, which has previously been outsourced. The role will encompass Tax Compliance, Governance, and Strategy, and would be ideal for someone with knowledge of VAT, Corporate Tax and Employment Tax within a Financial Services Organisation.

Salary: £70,000 – £90,000

The role will involve:
- Managing tax governance for the business, including SAO, Tax Strategy, and continuous testing of controls.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, including implementing new systems and driving long-term strategy.
- Perform all tax compliance activities across Corporate Tax, VAT, and Personal Income Tax, and co-ordinate with subsidiaries and tax advisors for local compliance.
- Perform group and local statutory tax reporting, including current and deferred taxes, Pillar 2 Reporting, CbCR, etc.
- Manage external tax communications with authorities, advisors, external auditors, and other tax policy decision makers.
- Provide support to HR around any employment tax matters and act as cover to the wider Accounting Function when needed.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An Accounting or Tax Qualification and at least 3 years of Post-Qualification experience in a relevant Tax role either in Big 4 or a Financial Services organisation.
- Experience of UK Tax reporting standards and prior knowledge/experience of the Commodities Trading or Financial Services sector.
- Experience of partnering the business on strategic tax matters such as transfer pricing or transactions.
- Strong organisational skills and able to manage multiple activities to deadlines whilst managing stakeholder expectations.
- The ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
