Robert Thesiger, the Group CEO of BRUIN Financial has been awarded the inaugural ‘Rising Champion’ award by WeAreTheCity in their annual Rising Star Awards, and is the first man to have received a Rising Star Award in their history.
Selected from over 100 individual nominations from 80 cross sector companies, the Rising Champion Award recognises senior leaders who actively support the female talent pipeline, and is a new category for the 2016 Awards. Nominations for this award are individuals who have demonstrated their commitment to gender, eg network leaders, Directors, MDs or C-Suite individuals who are championing women either inside or outside their organisations.
The annual WeAreTheCity Awards draws nominees from across the UK and Northern Ireland and consist of over 20 categories, each celebrating the achievements of women in a variety of areas of expertise. Over 1,000 individual entries were received for this years awards from over 300 different companies across all industry sectors including defence, law, media and journalism, and banking.
Vanessa Vallely, MD of WeAreTheCity said “It has been a total honour to run this years awards and highlight the achievements of so many amazing women, the calibre of entries was truly phenomenal. WeAreTheCity is very much about supporting the female pipeline and introducing these awards was a perfect opportunity to showcase the amazing talent of women across the UK. We are exceptionally proud of our winners and look forward to following their future success. We wouldn’t have been able to launch these awards without the support of so many organisations who took no convincing to support these women and recognise their achievements. Both myself, my team, our sponsors, judges and supporters are very much looking forward to celebrating with all of our winners at Barclays on 30 June”.
The WATC Awards are sponsored by Barclays and supported by leading organisations including AON, Bloomberg, BNY Mellon, EY, Keir, Lloyd’s, ISS, Morgan Stanley, Newton Investment Management, PwC, Reed Smith, Societe Generale, Soctim, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Virgin Media Business and Worldpay.
