“DIVERSE COMPANIES PERFORM BETTER”
In the second of specialist recruiter BRUIN Financial’s Diversity Forum series, senior women and Diversity professionals came to together to discuss Gender Diversity in Financial Services.
Guest speakers Nicola Horlick, the world-renowned British investment fund manager, and Arun Batra, Director of EY and CEO of the National Equality Standard (NES) gave their insights and took part in a lively open forum discussion, along with Robert Thesiger, CEO of The FISER Group, who presented the recent findings of the BRUIN Financial Women in Financial Institutions (WiFI) Index.
Horlick, CEO of crowdfunding service Money & Co provided an insight into the key influencers of her own career, and cited the importance of education, the need for greater support for working parents and called for better provisions for childcare in creating a more diverse workforce.
Batra, recently voted HR Consultant of the Year, highlighted the business case for a diverse workforce, with NES research showing the competitive advantage of diversity. Evidence shows that diversity is no longer simply about CSR, but the bottom line. Not only do businesses perform better to improve market share, but increasingly diversity is a feature of the RFP and supplier chain process.
However the latest findings of the BRUIN WiFI Index shows that whilst diversity is at the forefront of the agenda for many financial services firms, the improvement in the engagement, representation and employment of women over the last 24 months has been positive overall but gradual.
