A major global investment bank client is looking for a recently graduated PhD candidate to join their Global Risk Analytics team as a Data Analyst in their Edinburgh office.
The role will sit within the Global Risk & Analytics team, specifically working within the growing area of Financial Crime Compliance and will be accountable for analysis of initial Transaction Monitoring system, including configuration and deployment.

Responsibilities will include:
• Interpret and manipulate large data, to identify trends and issues
• Continuous refinement by analysis of system configurations and outputs
• Carrying out analysis of customer segmentations, volume trends and account activity to product detection mechanisms
• Ability to create reports and supporting evidence from database queries
• Setting segmentation based on reports and regulatory requirements
• Supporting the implementation of AML & regulations into the Transaction Monitoring systems
• Identifying and managing risks associated with AML systems

The successful candidate will have:
• Strong knowledge of SAS, Qlikview, SpotFire or similar
• Able to produce and interrogate complex analytical data
• Understanding business requirements and ability to convert these into positive systems changes
• Experience in data analysis within databases ( preferably Hadoop/Teradata)
• Able to use SQL/HQL to analyse large datasets
• Strong analytical skills and ability to make actionable recommendations from data and draw and support conclusions from data trends.
• A working knowledge of Lotus Notes, Word, Excel, Access, Visio and PowerPoint
• Pre-existing understanding of Financial Services
• Any compliance related knowledge or experience will be beneficial although not essential.
