Our top tier Banking client is looking for a Surveillance analyst to join their team on a permanent basis, at an Associate level. This opportunity is based in Birmingham and is a great chance for an individual to take the next step in their career within the compliance and regulation field.

Key Responsibilities

• Take part in the surveillance Comms Initiative as part of the EMEA Surveillance team
• Assist the team with daily operational issues, making sure that delivery and service levels are consistent
• Play an active part in the communication growth of the business through email, chat and voice alert generation.
• Involvement in a variety of Comms projects to increase the surveillance abilities in the future.
• Review alerts, escalations on trades, emails and other communications for possible breaches of laws, regulations and internal policies through investigating thematic and risk.
• Deal with breaches in a timely manner, ensuring that all necessary action is taken.
• Represent EMEA in international projects and to senior stakeholders
• Follow and improve procedures in order to detect and fix compliance related issues.
• Test new models and make amendments to existing one to ensure the effectiveness and coverage of alerts.

Skills and Experience Required

• Investment banking products background would be beneficial
• Experience within trading or surveillance looking at various financial products is beneficial
• Trade investigation or settlements experience
• A trade support background with experience in dealing with discrepancies, settling trades and investigations.
• Proactive attitude when conducting investigations
• Be able to interpret complex terms so that the rest of the business can understand
• Operations background with product knowledge
• Compliance or regulatory background would be highly sought for.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent
